Somerset, New Jersey– Jenifer Mendieta, a Staff Accountant in the RRBB Accountants and Advisors Attest Department was awarded a $6,500 college scholarship by the New Jersey Society of Certified Public Accountants (NJCPA).
“It’s always a thrill to be able to assist such young, talented individuals,” said Ralph Albert Thomas, CPA (DC), CGMA, CEO and executive director of the NJCPA. “This would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the generosity of our members and firm/company benefactors.”
About the NJCPA Scholarship
To be eligible for the scholarship, nominees must write an essay, have a qualifying GPA, and undergo an interview. While 131 college students applied, there were a total of 39 scholarship awardees. In addition to the scholarship, Jen now has a mentor to assist her in studying for the CPA exam. She also received a discount on the exam fee and NJCPA membership for the remainder of her school year. About Jenifer Mendieta
Jenifer began her career at RRBB as a summer intern in 2021, while her permanent employment with RRBB began in January of 2022. She currently works part-time as she continues her education toward a Master of Business Administration degree from Kean University. She received her Bachelor of Science in Accounting with a minor in Marketing from Fairleigh Dickinson University. sum cum laude, in 2021.
At RRBB, we encourage our interns and employees to gain knowledge in all aspects of accounting and advisory services. Therefore, Jenifer received an introduction to both tax and audit work. She works closely with others at the firm at all levels to learn from their diverse skillsets.
Jenifer comes to RRBB with banking experience. She handled daily cost financial transactions such as deposits, withdrawals, loan payments, and money orders. Jenifer's responsibilities also included counting cash, managing ATM deposits, and answering phone calls. Her outstanding client service and attention to detail brought her many accolades.
A resident of Elizabeth, Jenifer gives back to her community by serving as a math tutor and mentor to middle school-aged children preparing for high school at the Kenilworth Public Library.
